EMERYVILLE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Tanium, the company redefining endpoint security and systems management, announced today the appointment of Chris Bream as Chief Technology Officer. Bream joins Tanium from Facebook where he served as Director of Product Security.
The CTO position was previously held by Tanium’s co-founder and CEO, Orion Hindawi, a role he held since founding the company in 2007, even while taking on the CEO role more than a year ago.
“The strength of Tanium’s engineering and product development teams is one of the primary reasons our company keeps succeeding, and I have no doubt the team will see even greater success under Chris’s leadership,” Hindawi said. “More than anyone, Chris knows first-hand what keeps our customers up at night and this is precisely why Chris will lead us into the next chapter of realizing our ambitious technical vision and serving our customers in the most valuable and impactful way possible.”
Bream has worked in both the public and private sector, specializing in leading teams at high-growth organizations as they scale. Most recently, Chris spent three years at Facebook overseeing the company’s product security, infrastructure security, and information security policy and risk teams. During that time, the number of Facebook users grew from 1.2 billion to the nearly 2 billion today.
“Tanium solves a fundamental need as the company’s customer set and growth to date proves,” Bream said. “What’s incredible is that we’re still in the early days of executing against our extraordinarily ambitious technical vision and I’m both thrilled and humbled to be taking the reins of such a formidable engineering organization.”
Before joining Facebook, Chris was a director at Mandiant, where he led incident response teams and the managed service group. He began his career in local government as a systems engineer for Montgomery County in Virginia.
This announcement follows Fazal Merchant’s appointment as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer in April, as well as two new board appointments in February. Tanium recently reported another year of over 100% revenue growth, and serves more than half of the Fortune 100, and many agencies of the US Federal government.
