SOMERSET, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SHI International Corp., one of North America’s top 15 largest IT solutions providers, posted record revenue for the first quarter, driving 13 percent growth year over year and $1.7 billion in revenue. The company recorded significant growth in both domestic and international sales while building on revenue opportunities with current and emerging partners.
SHI’s domestic sales divisions grew sharply in the first quarter, led by a 24 percent gain for the Corporate and SMB division, and 13 percent gains in the Commercial and Strategic Enterprise space. SHI continued its strong growth outside of the U.S., including a 24 percent increase in the United Kingdom.
“Organizations today face a rapidly evolving technology landscape, so they require a partner that can listen, understand, and meet their unique needs,” said Thai Lee, President and CEO of SHI International Corp. “Our success is contingent upon our ability to adapt our offerings. As such, we have developed new programs and deployed additional resources that can support our customers’ demands for technologies from emerging cloud, security, and mobile partners.”
SHI highlighted rapid growth in public cloud usage, paced by Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS). SHI’s Microsoft Azure revenue jumped 147 percent in the first quarter, continuing the triple-digit growth experienced throughout 2016. Led by Azure and Office 365, SHI forecasts managing over $1 billion in customers’ Microsoft cloud assets in 2017.
SHI’s AWS business experienced similar momentum with a 112 percent jump in first quarter revenue compared to the same period a year ago after a 242 percent year-over-year spike for all of 2016.
The demand for AWS support led SHI to fortify its public cloud support portfolio, spearheaded by the first quarter launch of its AWS Support Services program, a combined professional and managed services offering led by Kevin Clements, SHI’s Chief Technology Officer. The AWS program, introduced in January, supports the evolving needs of SHI customers utilizing Amazon’s market-leading platform for cloud computing. Clements’ team provides both consultative and direct helpdesk support to customers who need to onboard and manage the technical, financial, and corporate governance aspects of AWS and other cloud technologies. Later this year, the program will expand to cover other public clouds, including Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud.
“SHI speaks to thousands of customers every day, and they’ve asked us to guide them, both technically and financially, to the best solutions,” continued Lee. “That was the genesis of our AWS Support Services program. Both new and longtime SHI customers have reacted positively to our new offering.”
Leading that revenue growth among emerging SHI partners in Q1 were Pure Storage, F5 Networks, Fortinet, and Nutanix. In addition, SHI’s six top overall partners in Q1 (Microsoft, Dell, HP Inc., Cisco, and Apple, respectively) all grew at least 14 percent year over year.
