BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--gMed™, a Modernizing Medicine® company and developer of the award-winning gGastro™ electronic health record (EHR) system, is proud to announce that it now can report Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems Outpatient and Ambulatory Surgery Survey (OAS CAHPS) data to select vendors.
OAS CAHPS asks consumers and patients to report on and evaluate their experiences with healthcare. This survey is currently voluntary, but will be mandatory for ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) certified by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) beginning in 2018. By starting to use this feature now, ASCs can evolve their processes and be better prepared for mandatory reporting.
While gGastro does not provide or administer the surveys as survey administration must be completed by a CMS certified survey vendor, market-leading gGastro contains the data necessary for the survey vendor to know, for example, the patients who underwent a procedure or the provider who performed the procedure. To facilitate ASC reporting, gMed has developed a data extraction tool that enables the provider to send the relevant data to the survey vendor.
“For over a decade gMed has provided gastroenterologists with a fully integrated procedure reporting platform combining the attributes of an EHR system and a report writer,” states Marina Simonian, Director of Product Management at Modernizing Medicine. “We continue to support our clients with the ever-changing regulations by facilitating data submission for early voluntary compliance by giving them an easy way to submit data for OAS CAHPS.”
gMed is the gastroenterology industry’s technology and services market leader. Modernizing Medicine/gMed was named among the top ten EHR systems for ASCs in all specialties by Black Book Rankings. gMed has received Black Book Rankings’ award for Top Ambulatory EHR for gastroenterology for seven years in a row, and it’s the only gastroenterology EHR system to ever be ranked #1 since Black Book starting polling EHR systems in 2010. In addition, gMed’s Endoscopy Report Writer (ERW) was selected by Olympus® as an alternate solution for the EndoWorks® platform which is being sunset.
Modernizing Medicine will showcase the latest technological advancements for gastroenterology, including revenue cycle management (RCM) services, at three upcoming conferences: ASCA 2017 booth #801 from May 3-6, 2017; Digestive Disease Week (DDW) booth #3822 from May 6-9, 2017; and the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA) booth #332 from May 5-9, 2017.
