ShaveLogic Wins Summary Judgment over Gillette

“The ruling vindicates ShaveLogic and its hard-working employees,” says CEO Rob Wilson

DALLAS--()--In 2015, shaving giant Gillette Company filed a lawsuit against Dallas-based ShaveLogic (Gillette Co. v Provost et al., Mass. Superior Court, Case #1584CV00149-BLS2), a pioneering start-up in the field of wet-shaving, and four former Gillette employees who were hired or retained by ShaveLogic. It alleged those former employees wrongfully used or disclosed Gillette’s confidential information and breached contracts with Gillette, to the benefit of ShaveLogic.

On Tuesday, April 18, the Massachusetts Superior Court dismissed all Gillette claims against ShaveLogic and its employees. The ruling stated, “Gillette has been unable to muster any evidence that Defendants used Gillette’s confidential information to develop razors for ShaveLogic.”

Furthermore, the court allowed ShaveLogic’s counterclaims against Gillette to proceed. ShaveLogic filed counterclaims against Gillette for intentionally interfering with prospective business relations, and violating Massachusetts’ consumer protection statute (MGL Title XV c.93A).

The ruling stated, “The Court also concludes that Gillette is not entitled to summary judgment on ShaveLogic’s counterclaims because a reasonable fact finder could conclude that Gillette had deliberately brought baseless claims in an attempt to bully ShaveLogic out of the market.”

The ruling vindicates ShaveLogic and its hard-working employees,” said CEO Rob Wilson. “We are a team of innovative entrepreneurs who identified a number of needs in the shaving market that can benefit men and women. Through hard work, thousands of development hours and millions of dollars, we developed outstanding, proprietary technology. The ShaveLogic Team is delighted with the Superior Court’s decision and looks forward to introducing consumers to our great technology.”
