America’s Neighborhood Pet Store to Roll Out Specials for National Pet ID Week

Pet Supplies Plus aiming to improve “return-to-owner” stats in communities across the United States

LIVONIA, Mich.--()--An estimated 10 million dogs and cats are lost or stolen in the United States every year, a significant problem that will affect one in every three pets over the course of their lives. To help combat this issue, pet owners and stores across the country will celebrate National Pet ID Week, an annual nationally-recognized week that focuses on identifying and returning lost pets to their owners.

According to the American Veterinary Medical association, pets with a registered microchip are 2.5 times more likely to be returned to their owner when turned in to a shelter.

In observance of National Pet ID Week (April 16) and to encourage continued awareness for the pet safety movement, Pet Supplies Plus will be hosting low-cost pet ID events at participating locations throughout the month of April.

From April 3 to May 1, participating Pet Supplies Plus stores that have teamed with VIP Petcare, which provides preventative veterinary care via mobile clinics, will offer $7 microchipping for pets with a $30 purchase at the store – a microchipping discount of more than 50 percent.

In addition, pet owners will receive a free Hillman tag with any purchase during National Pet ID Week (April 16-22).

“Pet are important family members and we feel very strongly that every pet should be properly identified to make sure they are safe and pet owners are given peace of mind,” said Chris Rowland, CEO of Pet Supplies Plus. “Microchipping statistics prove that tagging a pet is the most effective way to retrieve a lost furry friend and return them to safety. During the annual National Pet ID Week, we encourage all of our neighbors to take advantage of our great microchipping and ID tagging specials at their local Pet Supplies Plus store to significantly help the chances of a safe return should a pet get lost.”

Implanting a microchip is a relatively painless process. The device, which is about the size of a grain of rice, is inserted just below the skin. Pets that have the process done at Pet Supplies Plus are registered almost immediately with FoundAnimals.org, a non-profit registry that also works with the free American Animal Hospital Association chip directory.

Pet Supplies Plus maintains professional and experienced local teams that aim to eliminate all of the hassles of pet care and provide the most convenient shopping experience for its neighbors across the United States. By striving to create genuine relationships with everyone that walks through the door, Pet Supplies Plus gets to know both pet owners and the pets themselves, all while offering them easy shopping, high-quality product selection and a price match guarantee with hassle-free returns. The “Minus the Hassle” mindset has allowed Pet Supplies Plus to become a staple in neighborhoods across 29 states in America.
