AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--7X Energy, Inc. (“7X”), a utility-scale solar developer, today announced that it has become a Silver-level sponsor of the Rocky Mountain Institute’s Business Renewables Center (BRC).
“7X and the BRC share a common vision: to make it simpler for corporations to meet their renewable energy goals. Our partnership with the BRC will strengthen our ability to do that,” explained Clay Butler, President and CEO of 7X.
The BRC is a member-based platform that streamlines and accelerates corporate purchasing of off-site, large-scale renewable energy. The organization was publicly launched in 2015 with founding members such as General Motors, Kaiser Permanente, Nestlé Waters, Owens Corning, and Salesforce.
According to the BRC, nearly two-thirds of Fortune 100 and nearly half of Fortune 500 companies have set ambitious renewable energy or related sustainability targets.
“We’re seeing tremendous interest in utility-scale solar from corporations, particularly from industrial manufacturers and companies that operate data centers. Roughly 50% of BRC’s 103 corporate buyer members fall into one of those two categories,” said Mr. Butler, adding that, “Sponsoring the BRC enables us to collaborate more closely with those companies.”
“Corporate buyers represent one of the fastest-growing market opportunities for large-scale solar development,” said Lily Donge, Principal at the Rocky Mountain Institute. “The BRC works closely with developers to facilitate positive working relationships with corporate energy buyers, and the more that we can help educate market players, the more renewable energy we’ll see coming onto the grid.”
