IRVING, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Vizient, Inc. today recognized five member hospitals that improved the performance of their supply chain operations and lowered their cost of care over the course of 2016 by leveraging Vizient solutions and services. The awards were presented at the 2017 Vizient Connections Summit, held April 4-6, in Las Vegas.

The awards and hospitals recognized at the 2017 Vizient Connections Summit are:
- The Visionary Leader Award recognizes the member hospital considered an “industry steward” among its peers for consistent demonstration of leadership and transparency, commitment to innovation, and a comprehensive approach to process improvement. The winner is Yale New Haven Health System, located in New Haven, Conn.
- The Performance Solutions Excellence Award recognizes the member hospital achieving the greatest performance improvement as measured by documented cost savings in 2016. The winner is Sutter Health, located in Sacramento, Calif.
- The Supply Chain Performance Excellence Award recognizes the top performer in supply chain management as measured by supply expense at the facility level as well as for select departments such as pharmacy, laboratory, imaging, radiology, blood services, cardiology and surgical services. The winner is Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, located in Royal Oak, Mich.
- The Cost Management and Savings Leadership Award recognizes one large IDN and one community hospital member achieving the highest performance in cost management as measured by GPO savings and value. The winners are Northwestern Medicine (large IDN), located in Chicago, Ill., and Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare (community hospital), located in Salinas, Calif.
The annual Vizient Connections Summit brings members, suppliers and industry experts together in a collaborative setting to share insights and practices for strategic management of the supply chain to help improve financial and operations performance. The member event in the fall, Vizient Connections Clinical Summit, will focus on clinical, quality and performance improvement strategies.
