PROVO, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Vivint Smart Home, the leading smart home services provider in North America, today announced that it won the award for Best Community Outreach Program at the 22nd annual SAMMY Awards hosted by Security and Sales Integration. A panel of judges selected Vivint for excellence in its volunteerism and charitable endeavors.

Vivint is committed to giving back and bringing families and technology together to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children with intellectual disabilities. In 2016, Vivint employees volunteered for more than 21,000 collective hours and raised more than $2 million for a variety of service opportunities. Highlights include the following:
- Community Service: Vivint teamed up with an adolescent residential treatment center near its corporate headquarters to create a state-of-the-art sensory center for treating teens with autism. Vivint also donated money and hundreds of volunteer hours in a one-week whirlwind creation of an all-abilities playground in a local city park. More than 200 employees helped by sizing, cutting and drilling the playground equipment into place.
- National Contributions: Vivint contributed $100,000 to Autism Speaks as an official corporate safety sponsor and installed more than a dozen smart home systems for families identified by the nonprofit organization. In addition, Vivint volunteers created an additional 10 unique sensory rooms at autism treatment centers throughout North America. Vivint designed the rooms specifically to help children with autism better develop their motor skills and communication proficiency. Vivint also donated $60,000 to the Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics (FAST) to help improve the lives of children with this disability.
- International Assistance: Vivint extended its generosity internationally by donating money, time and labor to help people in Mexico and Peru. More than 400 volunteers traveled to struggling communities to build and improve community centers that provide much-needed help for people with disabilities. In total, Vivint provided more than 4,000 hours of service, donated $575,000 worth of supplies and impacted the lives of 45,000 children. Vivint also teamed up with Feed My Starving Children to package 272,160 meals for underprivileged children in Haiti, Cambodia and Nicaragua.
