NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CultureIQ, the culture management software and service platform that transforms data into actions, today announced key data insights gleaned from Entrepreneur's Top Company Cultures List, the comprehensive ranking of U.S.-based businesses exhibiting high-performance cultures. CultureIQ, which provided the methodology and execution of the research, found that culture qualities that most affect employee engagement include leadership support and participation, and a company’s communication of and dedication to their mission and values.
“In today’s competitive business environment, companies understand that culture benefits the bottom line,” said Greg Besner, CEO and Founder of CultureIQ. “Cultivating a high-performance culture is a discipline in its own right. Our research enables others to learn what separates the cream from the rest of the crop.”
CultureIQ polled 28,371 employees at 340 companies of all sizes and across industry sectors. Questions were designed to surface common opportunities for culture change and effective culture management. Metrics for assessing culture include an employee Net Promoter Score (eNPS), ten measurable culture qualities (collaboration, innovation, agility, communication, support, wellness, work environment, responsibility, performance focus, and mission and value alignment), and an overall CultureIQ score calculated by combining the average of the above.
Key findings cover how age, gender, employee tenure, hourly pay and other factors influence culture:
- Women consistently ranked their company culture less favorably than men
- Employee age did not seem to be a significant factor in how employees rate culture
- Quality scores in agility, communication and performance focus categories drop sharply after one year of employee tenure
- Mission and value alignment is a top contributing factor to employee loyalty and engagement
- Even in high-performing cultures, salaried and hourly employees have different experiences at work
- Leadership support and involvement is a key differentiator for high-performance cultures
“We have made a flexible and supportive culture central to our company’s mission,” said Ben Kirshner, Founder and CEO of Elite SEM, CultureIQ customer and two-time winner of Entrepreneur's Top Company Culture List. “Being named to this list is evidence that our continuous strategic focus on employee satisfaction yields the best business model—including impressive growth revenue, happy clients and the ability to attract and retain employees dedicated to their jobs.”
CultureIQ's findings reiterate the importance of taking time to identify and focus on opportunities to lower employee turnover rates and boost satisfaction and loyalty. Evaluating culture from a data-driven and strategic perspective can empower informed culture decisions that allow organizations to function at the highest possible level of innovation, productivity and profitability.
