BOSTON--()--Invaluable, the world’s leading online marketplace for buying fine art, antiques and collectibles, and Doyle, one of the world's leading auctioneers and appraisers of art and fine items, today announced online bidding on Invaluable for the Doyle at Home auction, featuring the collection of renowned opera singer Jessye Norman. The landmark sale of artwork, furniture, decorations, silver, books, autographs and stage jewelry will take place on Wednesday, March 29 at 10am, with online bidding available on Invaluable.com and through Invaluable’s mobile app.

The Doyle at Home auction will offer the The Jessye Norman ‘White Gates’ Collection as a special section. Acclaimed opera and concert singer Jessye Norman was raised by a family of music lovers and first began performing at home at age four. She quickly developed a lifetime passion for music and the arts, and started her professional life in Europe at the age of 24.

“Jessye Norman is one of the world’s most iconic figures in the realm of classical music, and we couldn’t be more proud to offer the contents from her country home, White Gates, to online bidders on Invaluable,” said Rob Weisberg, Invaluable CEO. “Both collectors and lovers of music will be excited by this incredible collection, and we look forward to helping extend the reach of this sale to bidders around the world.”

Norman lived at White Gates – a home that was formerly owned by Allen Funt, the creator of the television show Candid Camera – for more than 30 years. Set in the rolling hills of New York’s northern Westchester County, she adorned the home with art and decor that reflected her international career.

“We are honored to be presenting the auction of the Jessye Norman ‘White Gates’ Collection,” said Doyle Specialist Peter Costanzo. “She is one of the most respected and beloved figures in the opera world, and we are looking forward to welcoming her fans from across the globe to this landmark auction.”

Highlights from the auction include a typed letter signed by W.E.B. Du Bois from March 1939 (estimated at $300 - $500), a historical antiphonal leaf musical manuscript from the late 15th/early 16th century (estimated at $400 - $600), and two bronzes by Armando Amaya, including one entitled Mother and Child (estimated at $2,000 - $3,000) and another entitled Mazahua (estimated at $1,500 - $2,500). Additional lots of interest include a hammered gilt-metal sun pendant-necklace by Van der Staaten (estimated at $600 - $800), along with a pair of large gilt-metal cuff bangle bracelets, also by Van der Staaten (estimated at $800 - $1,200).
