HONOLULU--(BUSINESS WIRE)--UNITE HERE has launched www.AmericanAirlinesWatch.org for travelers who use American Airlines. UNITE HERE’s website gives consumers a way to share their experience directly with American Airlines’ management and file a consumer complaint with the US Department of Transportation (DOT). The DOT has received numerous consumer complaints from flyers. DOT data for the thirteen months after American’s merger with US Airways indicated that American Airlines was responsible for 30% of all consumer complaints, according to UNITE HERE.
UNITE HERE notes that American Airlines has failed to respond to repeated questions about the company’s vulnerability to computer system problems. In a November 3, 2016 letter to Executive Vice President Beverly Goulet (available at www.AmericanAirlinesWatch.org), UNITE HERE raised concerns in response to troubling indicators such as Delta’s recent catastrophic computer reservation systems (CRS) failure, critical feedback from consumers and stakeholders post-American and US Airways merger, the departure of long-time American Airlines President Scott Kirby to rival United and the ongoing issue of legacy CRS in the industry.
“With technology system failures plaguing the industry, American’s plan to prevent catastrophic computer failures or security breaches is important information for stakeholders to know,” stated Ivan Hou, researcher at UNITE HERE.
