TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Itoco Mining Corporation announces the appointment of Dr. Stewart A. Jackson, P.Geo. to its advisory Board.
“On behalf of Itoco Mining Corp, I would like to welcome Dr. Jackson to the team,” stated Company CEO Mr. Michael Paul. “His expertise in the mining sector and his business experience will further strengthen our board of directors.”
Dr. Jackson is a well-regarded exploration specialist with many years in the mineral exploration and development areas. With his Crown Resource Corporation, he discovered and initiated production from multiple gold discoveries producing multi- million ounces in Washington State, USA, including the current Buckhorn Mine of Kinross.
He was involved in the acquisition and exploration of multiple gold and silver deposits in North, South and Central America, the Philippines, and Indonesia. He acquired and delineated a 3 billion tonne uranium, vanadium, nickel, zinc and molybdenum resource in Sweden. His drilling program at the Turnagain nickel deposit in Northern BC, Canada was instrumental in the advancement of that exploration target to a large nickel resource (over 1 billion tonnes).
He had significant involvement with the Pine Point lead-zinc deposit, the Red Dog zinc deposit of western Alaska.
In addition to metals exploration he has been involved in a broad range of exploration fields, including industrial minerals, and diamonds.
Moreover, Dr. Jackson over the past 2 years has been following the development of the company and has a very clear understanding of the genesis of the emerald formation. Dr. Jackson says: “Geology and engineering will be a very important addition and represents a key part of the process for this successful operation.”
With the guidance of Dr. Stewart the company sees several perspective targets that are worthy of further development or exploration; within the existing mine workings, down-dip of the existing workings, the northern strike extent of the footwall (current workings), the breccia zone and the hanging wall. All of these settings are geologically and observationally valid hosts. At present the workings, when factoring in all the aforementioned targets, represents perhaps 10% of the perspective found within the property bounds.
Dr. Jackson is a Professional Geologist in the Province of Ontario, Canada. He gained a B.Sc, in Geology from the University of Western Ontario, an M.Sc. in Stratigraphy and Mineral Deposits from the University of Toronto, and a Ph.D in Stratigraphy and Economic Geology from the University of Alberta.
CEO Michael Paul of Itoco Mining Corporation said: "I am pleased that we will have access to Dr. Jackson’s unique insights into the exploration and development potential of our assets in Colombia. He has proven his ability over many years to add great value to mine and resource operations.”
Dr. Jackson said: “I look forward to working with Itoco Mining Corporation and its strong team. They have a unique business model that will allow them to develop their Emerald opportunities efficiently and economically.”
