ALEXANDRIA, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Savi®, an innovator in big data/machine learning analytic solutions, supply chain management software, and sensor technology, today announced that it has appointed J. Richard (Rich) Carlson as Chief Executive Officer. Sean McGuinness, who had been interim CEO, will continue to serve as chairman of Savi’s board of directors.
A seasoned technology leader with more than 20 years’ experience in the software and wireless space, Carlson is the founder and president of the Neon Dolphin Technology Group where he advised and helped grow IoT (Internet of Things) and software firms. Prior to founding Neon Dolphin, Carlson spent eight years as CEO at Wireless Matrix Corporation, which was publicly traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange, where he transformed the business from a niche satellite provider to a leader in the fleet management SaaS (software-as-a-service) industry. Carlson built and led an enterprise sales team at Wireless Matrix that ramped subscribers to over 100,000, increased service revenue to more than seventy percent of total revenue and created market leading enterprise fleet management solutions. In 2013, the company was acquired by CalAmp, a Nasdaq publicly-traded company.
“Technologies that can consume and make sense of massive IoT data are driving the digitization of supply chain,” said McGuinness. “Rich’s expertise in helping to grow IoT and software firms, and his proven track record of rapidly accelerating growth make him an excellent fit for Savi.”
“There is an enormous opportunity for Savi’s innovative solutions that marry true real-time visibility with powerful machine learning and analytics delivering insights that create enduring competitive advantages for our clients,” said Carlson. “I’m truly excited to join this innovator and help shepherd the next phase of Savi’s growth in the rapidly emerging IoT arena.”
Carlson currently serves on the advisory board of Geotab, Inc. of Oakville, ON, one of the fastest growing telematics companies in the world, and Zerion Software, a mobile workflow leader, based in Herndon, Virginia. Before Wireless Matrix, Carlson held several executive positions and consulted in the wireless communications arena. He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and an MBA from Georgetown University.
