SAN JOSE, Calif.--()--Yesterday was International Women’s Day, a day the world celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It also marked the day the YWCA of Silicon Valley unveiled the women they’ve selected to receive their prestigious Tribute to Women in Industry (TWIN) Award. Kim Scott, director of education services at Blach Construction Company is among the honorees and will be recognized at an Awards Dinner at the Fairmont Hotel on May 11th.

“Kim is an example to others within our company and our industry overall. Her thorough knowledge of construction and innate skill at navigating complex situations, coupled with her strong business sense and solutions-oriented approach inspire others to perform,” said Dan Rogers, executive vice president & COO at Blach. “She has an outstanding ability to lead cross-functional teams and easily connect with others – qualities that make her an ideal recipient of the TWIN Award. This is very well-deserved.”

The third Blach employee to receive this honor, Kim joins colleagues Gaye Landau-Leonard, vice president of human resources and Laura Bold, vice president of finance, in the TWIN Hall of Fame. Gaye and Laura were each recognized in 2013 and 2005, respectively, for their creativity, innovation and dedication to excellence in their fields.

Kim started her career with Blach in 2004 as a project engineer and quickly transitioned into a project manager. During this time, she worked primarily on jobsites, managing highly complex and varied construction projects. Her constant interaction with project stakeholders enabled her to develop strong relationships with many Bay Area school districts. It is this experience that paved the way to her current position as director of education services, where she is responsible for leading the development of one of Blach’s largest and most successful target markets – the K-12 and Higher Education sectors.

Kim earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and is actively involved with several state-wide organizations focused on advancing education. These include the California Association for School Business Officials (CASBO), the Community College League of California (CCLC), Pivot Learning Partners, California’s Coalition for Adequate School Housing (CASH), the Community College Facility Coalition (CCFC).
