24 Hour Fitness, U.S. Olympic Committee Renew Partnership Through 2020

U.S. Fitness Industry Leader Has Sponsored Team USA Since 2004

SAN RAMON, Calif.--()--In an ongoing commitment to the support of America’s elite Olympic and Paralympic athletes, 24 Hour Fitness has renewed its partnership with the United States Olympic Committee (USOC). The agreement extends the partnership through the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020.

Among the innovative elements of the agreement is the U.S. Olympic Committee Certification Program developed exclusively for 24 Hour Fitness personal trainers. The USOC will create general- and sport-specific courses for the fitness professionals of 24 Hour Fitness. The certification program will come with the exclusive USOC Certified trademark providing an additional layer of fitness expertise for members as well as future Team USA hopefuls who are members of 24 Hour Fitness® clubs throughout the United States. The certification will also play an important role in the company’s development of youth sports programs.

“We are honored to renew our partnership with the USOC,” said Mark Smith, Chief Executive Officer, 24 Hour Fitness. “The Olympic and Paralympic movements are about inspirational, life-changing moments that rise from years of arduous training. It’s a powerful message about goal setting, overcoming challenges and the mindset to achieve the impossible. We look forward to contributing our deep talent and resources to help the USOC and our country’s greatest athletes to achieve their Olympic and Paralympic dreams.”

“We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with 24 Hour Fitness, a company that shares in our mission of supporting U.S. athletes in their pursuit of competitive excellence,” said Peter Zeytoonjian, USOC senior vice president of marketing, commerce and events. “We look forward to combining the expansive fitness knowledge and nationwide network of 24 Hour Fitness clubs with the sports performance expertise of the USOC in effort to provide more programs and training resources for future Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls.”

24 Hour Fitness will continue to consult with the USOC about the design of Team USA’s High Performance Training Centers (HPTC) constructed in the Games’ host cities and will also provide on-the-ground staffing and expertise. During the Olympic Games Rio 2016, more than 700 24 Hour Fitness employees applied for the honor of serving Team USA as Fitness Ambassadors, of which 21 candidates were selected. Their exciting “views from the inside,” were shared through 24Life™ media channels for members to enjoy during the Rio Games.

Since 2004, 24 Hour Fitness has proudly partnered with the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic teams to support Team USA’s top competitors as they work tirelessly to earn a spot on the podium. More than 100,000 athletes have passed through the U.S. Olympic Training Centers and utilized equipment provided by 24 Hour Fitness in their quest to compete at the Games. 24 Hour Fitness also helped design and outfit the High Performance Training Centers at the Rio Games in 2016, London in 2012, and Beijing in 2008.
