Physical Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems Market - Analysis By Type, End-user, Service & Component - With Forecast (2016-2021) - Research and Markets

DUBLIN--()--Research and Markets has announced the addition of the "Physical Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems Market - With Forecast (2016-2021)" report to their offering.

Over the last decade, governments around the world have been investing in numerous technologies for increasing the security in their respective countries. One of the first steps in increasing security was at airports with a number of screening technologies being brought in. Further to this, physical intrusion detection systems were also brought in which together with other security technologies was able to improve the overall security for the airports in the country. Physical intrusion detection systems as the name suggests looks at just taking care of the physical security aspect and not logical access which would have included password access or system access etc.

There have been a number of technologies, which have been used for quite some time, however, over the last few years, new technologies have been brought in which bring in their own bag of advantages. Keypad control has been used considerably and is slowly being phased out. Systems that are being brought in to replace keypads include smart cards and biometrics. Biometric technology holds the largest advantage for physical access control, as there is no need for the user to remember or to use any key or card or any other device to gain entry. Entry is granted based on the physical attributes of the individual itself. Some of the more common biometric technologies that are being used today include fingerprint, retinal and IRIS biometric technologies.

The North American region is the highest contributor to the overall physical intrusion detection and prevention systems market. The region has been the earliest adopter of these technologies and continues to look at new systems for security purposes.
