Session 1: Network Operations

Topic: “SDN Traffic Engineering, A Natural Evolution” – During his presentation Cengiz will discuss the challenges of running traffic engineered networks and include real-world operational scenarios and data. He will introduce the IETF SPRING Working Group’s segment routing as an alternative to RSVP-TE. He will conclude with an illustration of how segment routing, using a centralized SDN application and SDN controller, greatly simplifies the operation of a traffic engineered network.
Session 2: Segment Routing Panel
Date and Time: March 1, 9:00-10:30 a.m. ICT
Topic: Segment routing (SR, also referred to as SPRING - Source Packet Routing In networkingG) is a control and data plane technology that simplifies MPLS networks through the use of SDN principles, as well as the removal of state in the core network.
This panel explores SR/SPRING and why it is not yet in broad use. Cengiz will explain how its adoption is expected to accelerate, because segment routing is an enabler for SDN traffic engineering. In addition, the panel will relay feedback from operators that have deployed the solution in whole or in part, within a commercial setting.
