CCAGW Supports Pro-Intellectual Property Guidelines for Trump Administration and 115th Congress

WASHINGTON--()--The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW), along with a coalition of 70 organizations, sent an open letter to the Trump administration and the 115th Congress, emphasizing the importance of protecting intellectual property rights and the key role it plays in job creation. The letter reads in part:

“It is an exciting time for America, particularly in the knowledge-based economy. American entrepreneurship, ingenuity and creativity lead the world, and we believe that intellectual property (IP) rights are a key ingredient in job creation.

“The undersigned organizations represent millions of Americans through both state and national advocacy or engage in rigorous research and educational work on intellectual property rights. We would like to share with you the following information and guidelines that our respective organizations look to when we consider our strong support for intellectual property rights.”

CCAGW President Tom Schatz said, “Intellectual property rights are the cornerstone of the American economy. Without strong IP protections, the nation loses its decisive innovation edge in the 21st century. On behalf of the millions of members and supporters of both CCAGW and the IP coalition, we strongly encourage the Trump Administration and members of the 115th Congress to protect and strengthen IP rights.”

The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste is the lobbying arm of Citizens Against Government Waste, the nation’s largest nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement in government.
