Allstate And WE Earn Top Honors For Corporate Social Impact Efforts

Golden Halo Awards to be Presented at May/June 2017 Chicago Event

RYE, N.Y.--()--The Golden Halo Award, the highest honor for companies and causes that collaborate to produce business and social dividends, will be bestowed upon Allstate and WE at the 15th Anniversary Engage for Good (formerly Cause Marketing Forum) conference.

Each year, the Golden Halo Award is given to one corporation and one nonprofit for overall partnership excellence in corporate social impact campaigns. The awards will be accepted by Vicky Dinges, Allstate’s senior vice president of corporate responsibility and Craig Kielburger, co-founder of WE at the Engage for Good Conference to be held on May 31 and June 1, 2017 at the JW Marriott Hotel in Chicago.

“This is only the second time in our 15-year history that the business and nonprofit winners of Golden Halo Award happen to be partners; it’s a rare and exciting situation,” said Engage for Good President David Hessekiel, “The Golden Halo Awards are bestowed upon companies and causes that have long-term, authentic and deep-rooted commitments to doing well by doing good. Our winners this year truly epitomize the power of partnership."

2017 Golden Halo Award Winner (Business): ALLSTATE

Allstate is the nation’s largest publicly held personal lines insurer, protecting approximately 16 million households from life’s uncertainties through auto, home, life and other insurance. As a positive force for change in society, Allstate’s 78,000 employees and agency owners make communities stronger, lives safer and futures brighter. Together, the company, its employees and agency owners use their resources and skills to empower future generations and survivors of domestic violence. In 2016, The Allstate Foundation, Allstate, its employees and agency owners donated $39 million to support nonprofit organizations in local communities.

Allstate supports WE through its Good Starts Young initiative, which aims to empower America’s youth with the strength, confidence and leadership skills to step us as leaders and realize their potential. More than 1.7 million youth have participated in Good Starts Young programs.

“Allstate is an excellent example of a company that lives at the intersection of cause and commerce,” said Hessekiel, “From its focus on engaging employee and agency owners in their work to empower youth and transform the domestic violence issue through financial empowerment, Allstate truly brings their ‘Good Hands’ motto to life for their many stakeholders.”

“Young people are curious, determined and eager to make their mark on the world – they just need a little encouragement,” said Vicky Dinges, Allstate’s senior vice president of corporate responsibility. “We’re humbled to receive this award along with our amazing partners at WE, and we hope it inspires other companies and individuals to look for ways they can support young people in their communities.”

2017 Golden Halo Award Winner (Nonprofit): WE

WE is a movement that brings people together and gives them the tools to change the world. WE is made up of two divisions: WE Charity and ME to WE social enterprise, which empower people to make a difference at home and globally. The celebration of that change happens at WE Day – inspiring stadium-sized life-changing events that take place around the world. WE continues to make a difference through the support of corporate partners like Allstate, Microsoft, Unilever and Walgreens, who share in WE’s vision of changing the world.

“We are incredibly humbled to be receiving this recognition alongside our partner Allstate,” said Craig Kielburger, Co Founder of WE. “There is tremendous value in working with partners who understand that empowering future generations with the strength, confidence and skills to rise up as leaders will only make the world a better place. Engaging our cause-focused partners has enabled WE to grow and reach more young people, helping them to make a world of difference in their own back yard and in communities around the world.”

Allstate is one of WE’s largest U.S. partners, helping bring WE Day events to tens of thousands of youth. The Allstate Foundation also supports the yearlong WE Schools service-learning program, in which American youth can participate in the WE Volunteer Now campaign it co-created with WE. Last year, more than 1 million youth took part in WE programs across the U.S., supporting WE’s vision of shifting the world from “me” to “we” by empowering all people to change the world.

“WE embodies what’s working in the charitable sector today: innovative and deep partnerships with a wide array of corporate and other partners, including its own social enterprise,” Hessekiel said. “WE’s focus on a demonstrably sustainable development model and work to empower today’s youth to become tomorrow’s leaders is commendable and delivers what corporate partners look for in a nonprofit partner.”
