WHY:

Violent thunderstorms unleashed tornadoes across southeast Louisiana Tuesday, February 7th. At least seven possible tornadoes ripped off roofs, sprung gas leaks and downed power lines in streaks of havoc from Baton Rouge to New Orleans. Eastern New Orleans suffered the heaviest damage as a tornado ran along the ground for about two miles while covering about a half-mile wide area in the Ninth Ward, which was pummeled by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Power giant Entergy reported more than 10,600 customers lost power in New Orleans. Many more residents have been forced from their homes, and are currently without basic needs. P&G has a history of giving back to the communities where we live and work, and we wanted to provide some everyday essentials to those who need it most. These services are free and available to people affected by the disaster and the volunteers who are helping to respond.
