Universal Plant Services Acquires NRG’s Engine Services Business Unit

Combination Bolsters UPS Midstream Services Division

HOUSTON--()--Universal Plant Services (“UPS”), a Jones Industrial Holdings company, announced today it has acquired the assets of the Engine Services business unit of NRG, which supplies parts and services for large-bore engines and natural gas reciprocating compressors. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

This transaction further strengthens the portfolio of UPS Midstream Services with geographic expansion into the Northeast and advances their position in the Gulf Coast region with the addition of 50 new employees and two locations in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and Scott, Louisiana.

“UPS is honored to add this extraordinary team and their expertise, processes and infrastructure to our organization,” said Co-Chief Executive Officer of Jones Industrial Holdings, Bradley Jones. “Strategically growing upon the strength of our existing midstream services and assets will equip us with the footprint and bandwidth to best serve our clients across the United States.”

UPS invested in the midstream sector in 2012 and has steadily experienced growth throughout the past four years. This acquisition represents the next level of commitment to enabling more comprehensive shop and field solutions for clients, as well as expanding expertise across all equipment manufacturers and increasing the inventory of the UPS Parts service line.

“UPS is dedicated to growing our team while continuing to provide exceptional service and quality to our clients. We are excited by the opportunities of this acquisition and believe that investing in our people, processes and technology will create higher value for our customers and employees,” said Reagan Busbee, President and Chief Operating Officer at UPS.

“NRG Energy Services is pleased that Universal Plant Services will continue to meet the needs of the customers of the Engine Services business,” said Jim Locher, President, NRG Energy Services. “While NRG Energy Services' business focus has gravitated more towards the operation, maintenance and repair of large power generation facilities, we continue to be focused on meeting all our customers' expectations and through UPS, a company dedicated to the repair of reciprocating engines, we are confident our customers will receive outstanding support for all their engine service needs."
