Ahead of the 2017 Masters, FanDuel Unveils Fantasy Golf Product

Company Adds Sixth Sport to Roster, Announces Golf Contests Coming This Winter

NEW YORK--()--Today, FanDuel announced the upcoming launch of its first fantasy golf product. The product will run in private beta before tournaments go live to the public this winter. This comes on the heels of FanDuel launching NBA InPlay in conjunction with the NBA in December, as well as the launch of daily fantasy soccer in the United States this past October.

“Over the past several months, we have been laser-focused on building a variety of new products such as NBA InPlay (a real-time fantasy basketball app) and our first fantasy soccer product in the United States,” said Nigel Eccles, CEO of FanDuel. “As we continue to expand our offerings, and with golf growing in popularity over the past few years, adding a fantasy golf product to our platform is an optimal way to keep sports fans engaged and get them excited for the golf tournaments coming up in 2017.”

Available to the public ahead of the 2017 Masters, FanDuel’s fantasy golf product is a fresh take on the game that is already enjoyed by thousands of golf fans. With a unique scoring system, users earn fantasy points based on a variety of individual scoring categories and bonuses for specific achievements. Additionally, instead of picking golfers who earn points over an entire tournament, at the beginning of the contest, users pre-select golfers to compete in Rounds 1 and 2 and then a different group to compete in Rounds 3 and 4. This new format offers users greater variety and more strategic options in building their roster of golfers, and will further enhance the excitement of the fantasy golf experience.

FanDuel is also announcing its first FanDuel Golf Tee-Off Classic, in which fantasy players will compete for a chance to win a trip for three to play golf with Hall of Famer running back, Jerome Bettis. The grand prize package includes airfare, two nights of hotel accommodations, and a round of golf with The Bus himself. Here’s how it works:

Between January and March, FanDuel will launch nine cross-sport qualifier contests across NFL, NBA and Golf* for players to enter for a $2 entry fee. The top 100 players in each qualifier will be awarded free entry into the Tee Off Classic Finals golf contest for an opportunity to win the grand prize. Cash prizes will also be awarded to the top players in each qualifier.
