Governor Otter Proclaims Jan. 22-28 “Idaho School Choice Week”; Joins Leaders Nationwide in Celebrating Opportunity in Education

Idaho schools, organizations, and families to hold more than 150 events as part of nation’s largest-ever celebration of school choice

BOISE, Idaho--()--Governor C. L. “Butch” Otter has proclaimed Jan. 22-28 as Idaho School Choice Week. Fully 14 other governors and more than 500 mayors and county leaders have made similar proclamations.

More than 21,000 independently planned events will take place around the country during National School Choice Week, including more than 150 events in Idaho. Events include rallies, roundtable discussions, coffeehouse meet-ups, festivals, school fairs, and more.

National School Choice Week, the largest-ever celebration of opportunity in education, is a nonpartisan, nonpolitical effort seeking to raise awareness about of the school choice options parents have, or want to have, for their children.

“We are thrilled that Idaho will be officially celebrating School Choice Week 2017,” said Andrew Campanella, president of National School Choice Week. “More and more, we are hearing from parents who want more educational opportunities for their children, and it’s been exciting to watch the school choice movement gain momentum.”

Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent public awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child. Through thousands of independently planned events across the country, National School Choice Week raises public awareness of all types of educational choices available to children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.
