Boosted Announces Voluntary Recall of 2nd Generation Battery Pack

Approximately 3,200 battery packs to be recalled

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--()--Boosted, Inc. today announced the voluntary recall of all user-replaceable standard range battery packs (Model B2SR) of its 2nd generation Dual+ boards, in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada. The recall was implemented after Boosted received two reports of the battery pack overheating and smoking. No related injuries or property damage have been reported.

Consumers should stop using the 2nd generation Dual+ Boosted board and contact Boosted for a free replacement battery pack. To participate in the recall, visit www.boostedboards.com and click on Battery Pack Recall or call Boosted toll-free at (844) 395-0070 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. PT Monday-Friday for full details.

“Safety is a top priority for us,” said Boosted CEO and co-founder Sanjay Dastoor. “Out of concern for our community’s safety and our belief in product integrity, we halted the shipment and production of boards immediately and began an investigation, working nonstop to isolate a short circuit in the electronics as the cause. We are now working with the CPSC and Health Canada to recall the battery packs. Since the incidents, we have added design and quality control changes that make our battery pack more robust and reliable than ever before. We’re sorry for the inconvenience to our customers, and are looking forward to getting them riding again soon.”
