Twitch Brings Gaming to the White House to Build Awareness of Health Coverage Options

Live streamed Competitive Gaming broadcast with more than a dozen streaming personalities marks White House’s first-of-its-kind gaming event

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Twitch, the world’s leading social video platform and community for gamers, today announced it is heading to the White House for a Competitive Gaming Event to raise awareness about the importance of health insurance ahead of the December 15 deadline for January 1 coverage on the Health Insurance Marketplace. The White House Competitive Gaming Event is a 4-hour event live streamed on Twitch (www.twitch.tv/GetCovered) on December 12 from 4:00 pm-8:00 pm ET. It will feature competitions with over a dozen popular variety and professional gamers, many of whom will be addressing the importance of health care. This historic occasion marks the first time the White House has done an esports and gaming marathon.

Among the gaming celebrities taking part in the White House Competitive Gaming Event are ActaBunniFooFoo, Annemunition, bijoudemi, darkness_429, Elspeth, imcoty, LifeWithLaughs, Okaydrian, and thatchickparker. These streamers and others will be sharing stories and playing various games. Some of the specific events taking place include a Rocket League Pro-Am Showmatch commentated by Goldenboy and featuring Fireburner, jacobRL, and sad_junior from NRG EsportsRocket League team, who are being joined by Moses. Justin Wong will also face off against Mike Ross in a Street Fighter V showmatch commentated by Gootecks. The event will be hosted by Twitch programming manager and streamer, Anna Prosser Robinson.

Playing a key part in the genesis of this first-of-its-kind event was Corillian, a creative strategy firm at the nexus of entertainment and policy.
