Company Uses Technology to Help Lessen the Stress of Finding the Right Health Plan

LOS ANGELES--()--Healthplans.com, the leading website where consumers can compare and choose their health insurance plan, unveiled new enhancements to its product that makes finding the right health plan more intuitive.

Its new plan finder tool enables consumers to answer a few questions about how they intend to use their health insurance plan, and the recommendation engine technology shows them their best choices.

Other enhancements to Healthplans.com include:

  • A streamlined and intuitive shopping experience
  • Insurance lingo explanations along the way
  • Side-by-side plan comparisons
  • Cost savings to consumers with insurance
  • New Customer Care Center with agents and representatives who help consumers over the phone

The new product enhancements follow other recent announcements at Healthplans.com, including the opening of a new Customer Care Center staffed with live agents and representatives.

“We’ve gone directly to the consumer, asked them what they’ve needed, and built it. While we can’t control the price of plans, we can enable people to shop smarter by giving them tools to help choose the right one,” said Healthplans.com’s CEO, Patrick Quigley.

Healthplans.com’s surveys of insurance consumers over the last three years indicated that about 1/3 of survey respondents were surprised to find they had to pay out-of-pocket costs for medical treatments and prescriptions drugs, while some were surprised to find treatment not covered at all.

“Health insurance is confusing. Our goal is for each of our consumers to leave the Healthplans.com experience knowing exactly what their plan covers, and the out-of-pocket costs they will be responsible for,” Quigley said.
