Reuben’s Brews & Rainier Brewing Company Announce Collaboration Brew for 2017 - r&R Pils

r&R Pils combines the best of two award-winning Pacific Northwest breweries

SEATTLE--()--Two of Seattle’s best breweries – Rainier Brewing Company and Reuben’s Brews – have joined forces to produce a hoppy pilsner set to enliven the taste buds of Northwest beer fanatics. Set for release in May next year, the new brew, named r&R Pils, is a Northwestern take on a traditional, German style pilsner that marries the award-winning lager expertise of Rainier Brewing Company with Reuben’s Brews highly lauded hop-forward styles.

The collaboration idea began – no surprise – over a pint. “Michael – Rainier’s Brand Manager – has always been a big fan of ours and a regular in our taproom, so when he asked us to be the first brewery to collaborate with Rainier in its 138 year history, we were blown away and jumped at the chance!” said Adam Robbings, head brewer and co-founder of Reuben’s Brews.

He continued, “Working with Greg Deuhs and his team on the recipe development was a lot of fun, as each of us brought new ideas to the table. For Reuben’s, we’ll be brewing with some hops and malts for the first time. We're excited to bring the capital ‘R’ and little ‘r’ of Seattle beer together for a one-off special brew!”

A limited run brew, r&R Pils will be available on draught and in 12-ounce 6-packs and 22-ounce bottles throughout Washington and Oregon while supplies last. This special collaboration brew is 6% ABV with 40 IBUs. Malts used include U.S. Pilsner, German Pilsner, and Rye and hops include Hallertau Tradition, Cashmere, Galaxy, and Azacca.

“After we brought brewing back to Washington with Rainier Pale Mountain Ale last year, we’ve been looking for other fun projects that build on the Rainier legacy, and a collaboration beer with Reuben’s Brews was one idea that really took off,” said Michael Scott, Rainier’s Brand Manager. “We are thrilled that Adam and his team agreed to partner with Rainier on our first collaboration beer. Expanding Rainier’s offerings to include one-off special brews and other trend-forward beer styles is a focus of ours and we’re just getting started!”

r&R Pils is just one of a number of exciting collaborations for Reuben's Brews coming in 2017. Visit www.reubensbrews.com to find out more. Rainier also has plans to release more special brews in the coming months. For more details, please visit www.rainierbeer.com.
