MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--()--VeloCloud™ Networks, Inc., the Cloud-Delivered SD-WAN™ company, today announced that its Cloud-Delivered SD-WAN solution has been named the 2016 SDN Technology of the Year by MEF (www.MEF.net), the driving force enabling agile, assured, and orchestrated Third Network services.

The MEF 2016 Excellence Awards recognize service, application, technology, and professional excellence and innovation in the global Third Network community. The awards program is the largest in the world focused on advanced Carrier Ethernet services and emerging Third Network services powered by CE 2.0, LSO (Lifecycle Service Orchestration), NFV, and SDN networking technologies. The 2016 Awards were presented at the MEF Excellence Awards Dinner as part of the MEF16 (www.MEF16.com) global networking conference earlier this month.

“MEF congratulates the 2016 Award winners for the outstanding work they are doing to advance service and technology innovation,” said Kevin Vachon, Chief Operating Officer, MEF. “Judging was highly competitive this year, with 36 companies – including 19 service providers and 17 technology vendors – competing as Finalists for this year’s awards.”

“It is rewarding to be named the 2016 SDN Technology of the Year by MEF, the leading organization of more than 210 network operators and technology vendors enabling Third Network services for the digital economy and the hyper-connected world,” said Sanjay Uppal, Co-founder and CEO of VeloCloud. “SD-WAN is an emerging application of SDN and NFV that the MEF recognizes should be addressed as a connectivity service and managed by lifecycle service orchestration. This award recognizes the benefits of VeloCloud SD-WAN and its unique ability to enable both service providers and enterprises to simplify and automate complex on-premise WAN functions by delivering them from the Cloud. With VeloCloud, The Cloud is The Network.”

The judging panel for the MEF Excellence Awards was comprised of global and regional senior analysts from ATLANTIC-ACM, Current Analysis, Frost & Sullivan, IHS Markit, Metanoia, Ovum, SDxCentral, and Vertical Systems, in addition to independent judges.

VeloCloud Cloud-Delivered SD-WAN delivers assured application performance, secure and available hybrid networks, and zero touch WAN automation. These capabilities are extended directly to service provider private backbones and cloud datacenters and services, as well as between enterprise sites. A cloud-delivered solution enables SD-WAN over last mile broadband and off-net circuits to access existing private backbones to leverage their reliable mid-mile connectivity and existing connectivity to enterprise sites. The solution also has the flexibility to be deployed as a fully over-the-top solution with on-premises SD-WAN Hubs. This is uniquely combined with the use of VeloCloud Gateways for direct SD-WAN access to SaaS and IaaS destinations.
