DÜSSELDORF, Germany--()--iMDsoft®, a leader in clinical information systems, announced that MetaVision SafeTrack™, their mobile electronic observation solution, now offers fluid balance charts for tracking of patient status and earlier detection of patient deterioration. The solution will be demonstrated at Patient First in London, 22-23 November 2016.

Accurate fluid management is linked to reduced length of hospital stay and reduced risk of mortality. However, assessments are not always performed in compliance with protocol, and documentation is not always complete or correct. Fluid balance charts help monitor patients’ fluid input, fluid output and overall hydration status, providing automatic calculations and accurate data that is accessible to all. They are essential for patients with a range of conditions, such dehydration or acute illness; patients receiving nutrition or given drugs via IV; patients being monitored following major surgery; patients with fluid restriction, with acute kidney injury (AKI) or nephritic syndrome and many more conditions.

In addition, MetaVision SafeTrack offers all the advantages of a mobile electronic observation solution, ensuring faster intervention for patients in need. It enables nurses to collect vital signs and observations at the bedside, automatically calculates early warning scores and provides options for immediate escalations to doctors, senior nurses and outreach teams. Nurses work more effectively and can prioritise care with tools for task management and shift handover. The system processes information that is collected to generate reports that help improve hospital performance. MetaVision SafeTrack is currently being implemented at NHS global digital exemplar University Hospital Southampton (UHS).

"We believe that the addition of fluid balance charts to MetaVision SafeTrack can make a significant contribution to patient safety," said Eran David, CTO of iMDsoft. “We hope that by monitoring patients’ fluid input, fluid output and overall hydration status these charts will help our customers with early detection of potential AKI and other lethal conditions.”
