OKLAHOMA CITY & NORMAN, Okla. & SPRINGFIELD, Mo.--()--John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts (JQH) today announced that the company’s Embassy Suites by Hilton Norman Hotel & Conference Center in Oklahoma has been recognized as a 2016 Governor’s Disability Employment Award of Excellence winner. Ken Holt, director of event operations, accepted the commendation on behalf of Embassy Suites by Hilton Norman during a recent ceremony at the Governor’s Mansion, Phillips Pavilion, in Oklahoma City. This TripAdvisor® 2016 Certificate of Excellence hotel is nestled in the University North Park retail and business development in Norman and is owned and operated by Springfield, Missouri-based JQH, a leading private, independent owner and manager of hotels in the United States, including operating more than 1 million square feet of superb meeting space.

The Dale Rogers Training Center (DRTC), a nonprofit agency that provides training and jobs for people with disabilities, nominated Holt for the Governor’s Award of Excellence. With multiple locations in Oklahoma, DRTC trains or employs more than 1,100 people with disabilities per year. JQH’s Embassy Suites by Hilton Norman employs five individuals with disabilities and also participates in the Project SEARCH high school transition program that supports students with developmental disabilities through total workplace immersion.
