Certified OpenStack Administrator Exam Delivered to 500 Professionals in Five Months

Rackspace, Linux Foundation and SUSE leading resellers of the only vendor-neutral professional certification offered by the OpenStack Foundation

BARCELONA, Spain--()--OpenStack Summit — The Certified OpenStack Administrator exam, the first and only vendor-neutral certification offered by the OpenStack Foundation, is gaining traction in the market as OpenStack talent continues to be in high demand. Launched in May, more than 500 professionals from 50 countries have taken the exam, and another 500 exam vouchers have been purchased for tests to be scheduled. Demand has primarily been driven by key training partners including Rackspace, who is the leading reseller, as well as The Linux Foundation and SUSE.

The OpenStack Foundation also recently launched a new tool for recruiters and hiring managers to search and verify a test taker’s credentials at www.openstack.org/coa. Recruiters can now add a badge seeking “Certified OpenStack Administrators” to their listing on the popular OpenStack jobs page.

The Certified OpenStack Administrator exam is performance-based, requiring professionals to demonstrate their skills in a real OpenStack environment. The exam is available online, anywhere in the world. The current exam is based on the OpenStack Liberty release and covers the project’s core compute, storage and networking services. To learn more about the knowledge requirements and domains covered in the exam, go to www.openstack.org/coa/requirements.

The best place to begin your path to certification is through the OpenStack Training Marketplace, which features dozens of companies that can prepare students to take the exam. Many of these companies also bundle the COA exam with their training courses, including 99cloud, Alta3 Research, ComponentSoft, HPE, Kumulus Technologies, The Linux Foundation, Midokura, Rackspace and SUSE.

“One way SUSE provides value to our OpenStack customers is by simplifying the process of deploying and operating their clouds,” said Alan Clark, director, Industry Initiatives, Emerging Standards and Open Source at SUSE. “An important way we do this is by bundling the COA exam with our OpenStack training offerings. Operations team members can sign up for our OpenStack training offerings, confident in the knowledge that as soon as they’re done, they’ll be ready to move seamlessly from the testing process into the crucial ops roles their companies need.”

“Since founding OpenStack with NASA in 2010, Rackspace has continued to focus on advancing the community,” said Tony Campbell, director of global talent development at Rackspace. “Our OpenStack training offerings play a critical role in this effort.
