Excel4apps Survey Offers Insight into ERP Reporting Priorities and Future Plans for Oracle E-Business Suite Users

Oracle OpenWorld attendees weigh-in on upcoming Cloud and reporting software decisions

PITTSBURGH--()--An Oracle OpenWorld survey by Excel4apps, provider of best-in-class Excel-based inquiry and reporting software for use with Oracle and other applications, showed attendees in flux regarding two critical decisions: moving toward Oracle Cloud ERP (Fusion) and moving away from the unsupported Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer reporting solution. The survey of 250 attendees was conducted during and just after the September 2016 OpenWorld event in San Francisco.

As this infographic depicts, 44 percent of Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) respondents at OpenWorld are still weighing options for moving to the Fusion offering, while 31 percent either have or are planning to move and 25 percent will not. In the data reporting realm, 41 percent of Discoverer users — a popular reporting tool cited by 35 percent of respondents — are migrating to another solution, driven by the end of extended support in 2017. Of those migrating from Discover, 71 percent find real-time reporting very important.

“Oracle EBS users have some big decisions on their plates regarding Cloud and reporting options,” said Dean Jones, Global Vice President, Oracle EBS Solutions, for Excel4apps. “We especially aren’t surprised with the uncertainty surrounding reporting, as some of the more popular solutions cited by respondents like OBIEE (53 percent) and Hyperion (27 percent) are too complex and costly for many, which has driven Oracle EBS users to Excel4apps (23 percent) for real-time options.”

Another recent global Excel4apps survey and infographic of Oracle users showed an even higher number― 64 percent ― of respondents planning migration from the Discover reporting tool.

“While Discoverer, OBIEE and Hyperion are popular, they don’t offer real-time data like our Excel-based solutions, which are predicated on ease of use and cost effectiveness,” said Jones.
