KIRKLAND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Time is running out to submit for the 2017 Imagine Blue Awards hosted by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG). The program offers developers, makers, and students an opportunity to showcase groundbreaking Internet of Things (IoT) innovations that are solving challenges in the world around us with Bluetooth technology. All entries are due by 13 December 2016. Applicants may submit to one of two categories – Prototype or Student – with the chance to win cash prizes ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 USD to help bring their ideas that will help the IoT reach its full potential, to life.
“Last year’s winners – an advanced Bluetooth beacon used to improve food safety and a smart flood sensor designed to alleviate natural disaster fallouts – prove that the power of Bluetooth is only limited by the imagination. The applications we’ve received so far this year demonstrate the amazing scope of Bluetooth, highlighting the technology’s ability to inspire creators to build the next generation of technology that will transform our day-to-day lives,” said Katy Scheck, Director of Marketing, Bluetooth SIG. “This awards program aims to empower and inspire the forward thinkers of tomorrow, encouraging them to imagine how the IoT and wireless innovation can improve the way we work, live, and play.”
The Imagine Blue Awards are open for submission through 13 December 2016. The program is open to anyone. A judging panel will identify five finalists and one winner in each category. Entries will be judged on level of innovation; how developed the idea is; how the idea is solving a challenge or providing an added value; and the creator’s strategy for building, shipping, distributing, and turning their idea into a reality they can bring to market. Additional category-specific criteria can be found here: https://www.bluetooth.com/news-events/awards.
Review units must to be shipped to 202 South Lowell Lane, 78733, Austin, TX, and received by 16 December 2016. Questions about the program can be directed to Lindsay Peattie, Senior Marketing Manager, Bluetooth SIG, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Bluetooth SIG will notify and announce finalists for both categories in February 2017, and the winner in each category will be announced at the conclusion of Bluetooth World 2017.
