BEND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SOAR Oregon is proud to announce its Platinum Sponsorship of the Future Robotics Forum at OMSI in Portland, October 19-21, including an evening benefit for STEM education grants throughout the Pacific Northwest. The event will host business leaders and inspiring speakers of over two dozen companies and organizations driving the future of the drone and unmanned robotics industries and is hosted by the Cascade Chapter of the Association of Unmanned Vehicles Systems International (AUVSI).
The STEM Benefit Dinner will kick off the three-day event on Wednesday, with the keynote from Ryan M. Hartman, president and CEO of Insitu, the leading unmanned systems corporation in the region. Proceeds will go to Cascade AUVSI’s non-profit mission to provide educational STEM grants to Oregon and Washington schools, and several past recipients will share their successes.
On Thursday, October 20th, the Future Robotics Forum will host an impressive panel of companies leading the way, including sponsor SOAR Oregon, the non-profit dedicated to boosting UAS companies in Oregon and the operation of the state’s three FAA-approved test ranges.
SOAR Oregon Executive Director Chuck Allen will speak about how the FAA regulations are falling into place for the rapidly evolving industry, employment opportunities, and SOAR’s mission to accelerate and support this growth. COO John Stevens will discuss the development of the Oregon UAS test ranges at Warm Springs, Tillamook and Pendleton and how these ranges are rapidly developing into powerful assets for Oregon. He will also elaborate on recent FAA initiatives that are enabling UAS businesses to grow, and the paths available for UAS Airworthiness and Type Certification.
Intel will present the keynote on their current robotics efforts, vision, and challenges. Other presenters include HP, with news about the latest innovations from their 3D Printing Division in Corvallis, and Jaguar Land Rover from their Portland-based research center focused on the Future of Technology Infotainment. The full agenda and registration can be found here www.auvsi.org/Cascade, including startup and UAV mapping workshops to be held on Friday, October 21st.
