The Security Innovation Brings Mobile Application Exploitation to OWASP AppSec USA 2016

WILMINGTON, Mass.--()--Security Innovation, a cybersecurity provider and leader in the 2015 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Security Awareness Training, will be sponsoring as well as presenting their mobile security expertise at OWASP AppSec USA this week in Washington D.C.

On Tuesday, October 11th Senior Security Engineer and Center of Excellence lead, Dinesh Shetty will be conducting a 2-day training session along with Prateek Gianchandani from Cognosec for attendees who are interested in an intensive, hands-on training on exploiting mobile applications.

The training, entitled Mobile Application Exploitation will be a 2-day introductory course on exploiting iOS and Android applications. The training will be based on exploiting Damn Vulnerable iOS app, Android-InsecureBankv2 and other vulnerable applications that are written by the trainers in order to give an in-depth knowledge about the different kinds of vulnerabilities in mobile applications. This course will also discuss how an attacker can compromise a mobile application. After the workshop, the students will be able to successfully pen test and secure applications running on the various operating systems.

In addition, the training will also include a CTF challenge at the end where the attendees will use the skills they learned in the training in order to solve the various interactive challenges.

“We all use webcam block covers on our laptops, but if you actually think about it - the cameras on our phones are equally dangerous,” says Shetty. “How many of us have a privacy screen on their phone camera? This course is an introductory training where we will walk attendees through the major vulnerabilities in the Android and iOS applications. We will also teach how attackers can add backdoors in public applications to gain access to private data that was deemed to be secure.”

Shetty is a widely published author and prolific speaker, having presented at Black Hat, DEFCON, OWASP, and other conferences around the globe. His mostly self-taught expertise has been leveraged to teach numerous developers on secure mobile architecture, development, and testing.

Security Innovation is a corporate sponsor of OWASP will also be exhibiting at the event on October 13th and 14th in booth# S9.
