PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ainsworth Pet Nutrition, manufacturer of the Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® line of super premium food and treats for dogs and cats, announced today that it will celebrate exceeding 200,000 members in its Nutrish for Cats Facebook community with a donation of 200,000 meals to felines in need.
The food – totaling in retail value to more than $50,000 - will be donated to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals’ (ASPCA) Cruelty Intervention Advocacy team, which works with pet parents experiencing difficulty caring for their pets due to homelessness, medical or financial stressors. They also provide temporary care for pets whose families are seeking shelter due to domestic violence.
“At Ainsworth, we believe pets are a part of the family, and when hardship strikes, there is nothing more important than keeping a family together,” said Steve Joyce, Vice President of Marketing for Ainsworth Pet Nutrition. “We’re so happy we could use this milestone to provide cat parents going through difficult times with peace of mind that their cats will be well fed and cared for despite their circumstances.”
Focused on engaging cat parents through content that is fun, culturally relevant and informative, the Nutrish for Cats Facebook community is just one of the social media resources the company has used to build a relationship with cat parents nationwide. Earlier this year, Nutrish partnered with BuzzFeed to produce a content series celebrating cat culture - the culmination of all things feline - as well as cat rescue and adoption. The content series recently surpassed 20 million views across all social media channels since its launch in early June.
Launched in 2014, Rachael Ray Nutrish for Cats is a complete line of super premium dry and wet cat food inspired by recipes from the kitchen of TV personality and cook, Rachael Ray. Every Nutrish wet and dry cat food formula is made with wholesome ingredients like real chicken or fish, and never includes any ground corn, wheat, soy, poultry by-product meal, artificial flavors, or artificial preservatives and can be found in grocery and mass merchandisers nationwide.
