Medical Mutual of Ohio Earns National Honor For Workforce Well-being Program

CLEVELAND--()--Medical Mutual of Ohio is one of 13 U.S. employers to receive the 2016 Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles® Platinum Award for having one of the best workforce well-being programs in the nation.

The award is the highest honor presented by the National Business Group on Health. It recognizes Medical Mutual for implementing a workforce strategy that has a demonstrated, positive impact on all aspects of employee well-being. This marks the second time Medical Mutual has received a Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles award.

The National Business Group on Health, a non-profit association of 425 large U.S. employers, announced the award September 15 during its fall conference in Washington, D.C.

“Our progressive approach to employee health and wellness is what earned our company this recognition,” said Rick Chiricosta, Medical Mutual president and CEO. “I credit our wellness team for creating appealing and effective programming for our employees.”

“Building a culture of health that included well-being as part of our strategy boosted participation in wellness initiatives and helped create healthier, more productive employees,” said Cindy Ballog, Medical Mutual’s manager of health promotion, wellness and disease management.

“Our programs help employees identify and improve upon specific areas of health risk, and provide the interventions, tools, resources, motivation and support to achieve and maintain high-level well-being,” Ballog said.

“We congratulate Medical Mutual of Ohio for its dedication to improving the well-being of their employees,” said Brian Marcotte, president and CEO of the National Business Group on Health. “We commend the company and its leaders for their innovation.”

Overall, 55 companies were recognized with 2016 Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles® awards. In addition to the 13 Platinum Award honorees, 42 other companies were honored with Gold and Silver awards for having a strong commitment to holistic well-being or demonstrating emerging well-being strategies, often with a focus on physical health.
