Oath Craft Pizza Closes $4.5M Series A Funding Round Led by Breakaway

BOSTON--()--Oath Craft Pizza, a fast casual restaurant operator, has officially closed a $4.5 million Series A investment led by Breakaway, a Boston-based branding and venture capital firm. With this funding, Oath has raised $9 million in funding since inception.

Oath Craft Pizza is poised to transform the fast casual space by introducing craft pizza: chef-inspired pizzas that combine artistry with quality ingredients offering a unique flavor profile. The company and its seasoned operating team deliver an exceptional product and a remarkable brand experience across all four of its Massachusetts locations. The new investment will be used to further accelerate the company's growth within the Boston metro area, as well as rapid expansion into new geographic markets, including New York and Washington, DC.

“We’re thrilled by the ongoing support from our investors, as this additional funding will allow us to execute our growth plans for the brand," said Oath Craft Pizza’s President and COO Rick Wolf. “As the restaurant industry evolves to keep up with consumer tastes and preferences, Oath is proud to lead the pack in fast-casual craft pizza. We look forward to bringing our unique flavor combinations and exceptional crust to new guests in Boston and beyond.”

“We are excited about the opportunity to create a brand that stands for something and that innovates the world of fast casual, not just pizza, by applying new technologies and embracing smaller footprints than traditional operators,” said John Burns, chairman of Oath and president of Breakaway Ventures. “This investment is a reflection of our commitment to a company that is pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the restaurant industry as a whole.”

Breakaway was joined by a number of co-investors in this round: Joe O’Donnell, chairman of the board of directors for Centerplate, Stephen Karp, chairman and CEO of New England Development, Douglass Karp, president of New England Development, Steven Fischman, vice chairman of New England Development and Ben Fischman, founder of Rue La La and M Gemi.

As part of this funding, Len Schlesinger has also joined the company’s Board. Len is the former President of Babson College, Vice Chairman and COO of Limited Brands and EVP and COO of Au Bon Pain. He is currently a Baker Foundation Professor at the Harvard Business School.
