Preferred Sands’ Polymeric Proppant Chrome Selected as Silver Winner in the Eighth Annual 2016 Golden Bridge Awards for Energy Industry Innovation of the Year

Breakthrough high-temperature polymeric proppant to be honored among the energy industry’s most innovative technologies

RADNOR, Pa.--()--Preferred Sands, one of North America’s leading proppant technology companies, announced today that Chrome, a product from the company’s line of Polymeric Proppants, was selected as the silver winner in the eighth annual 2016 Golden Bridge Awards®.

Chrome is a proppant technology designed to lower the cost per barrel of oil equivalent (BOE) while enhancing production and flowback control in deep reservoirs within an application range of 140° – 280°. Designed in 2015, Chrome was selected for this award because of its ability to maximize production and prevent sand flowback at a competitive price point with an environmentally friendly coating.

“Many oilfield services companies are operating conservatively given the current state of the oil and gas market, and that’s been a driving force as we continue to innovate and launch products that will lower operating costs and optimize production,” said Michael O’Neill, founder and CEO of Preferred Sands. “We’re proud that one of our newest products has been selected to receive a Golden Bridge Award for the second year in a row.”

Preferred Sands developed Chrome last year to help operators save money by offering a lower cost product that still delivers superior flowback control, consistent with all of Preferred Sands’ coated polymeric technology. The company’s line of Polymeric Proppants are the only coated proppants that outperform conventional resins because of the unique bonding mechanism delivered by their polyurethane coating.

The Golden Bridge Awards are an annual industry and peer recognition program honoring the world’s best from every major industry. In its second year, the Energy Industry Innovation category honors new products and innovations that have improved the energy industry.
