IHS Markit Named to Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index

LONDON--()--IHS Markit (Nasdaq: INFO), a world leader in critical information, analytics and solutions, today announced it has been named – for the fourth consecutive year - to the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index (DJSI) by RobecoSAM, a globally renowned specialist in sustainability investing.

IHS Markit officially formed in July 2016 as a merger of equals between IHS Inc. and Markit Ltd.

“This is an exceptional achievement,” Jerre Stead, CEO and Chairman of IHS Markit said of the just-released index results. “We are so honored by the recognition and I’m excited about what our newly combined organization has and will accomplish in the area of sustainability. Our goal has always been to drive sustainable profitable growth for shareholders, while being a best-in-class company with high levels of customer delight and colleague engagement, and significant community involvement. I am so proud of our colleagues whose passion and commitment drove these results.”

According to the 2016 DJSI index results, IHS Markit excelled most notably in “social” areas such as talent attraction and retention, corporate citizenship and philanthropy, and development of human capital.

“As IHS Markit, we have a steadfast commitment to all aspects of corporate sustainability and we regard it as key to our future performance,” said Jane Okun Bomba, executive vice president and chief sustainability officer. “We have built a culture with a strong focus on delivering valuable solutions to our customers, while creating a great place for our colleagues to work, driving strong returns for shareholders and being leaders in the development of our communities.”

The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices launched in 1999 as the first global sustainability benchmarks and are offered cooperatively by the RobecoSAM (Sustainable Asset Management) and S&P Dow Jones Indices to track the stock performance of the world's leading companies in terms of economic, environmental and social criteria. The indices serve as benchmarks for investors who integrate sustainability considerations into their portfolios, and provide an effective engagement platform for companies who want to adopt sustainable best practices.
