Western Digital is Now Shipping Its Award-Winning G-Technology Network Attached Storage Solution for Content Creators in Europe

12-Bay G-RACK 12 Enables Teams of Creative Professionals to Streamline Media and Entertainment Workflows with Reliability, Scalability, and Studio-Friendly Technology

AMSTERDAM--()--IBC2016 (Hall 7, Stand H39) G-Technology®, a trusted premium storage brand by Western Digital (NASDAQ: WDC), today announced the European availability of the G-Technology® G-RACK™ 12 – the brand’s first NAS-based device that enhances its award-winning product portfolio for content creation professionals worldwide. The G-RACK 12 and other G-Technology storage solutions will be on display at IBC2016, September 9-13, in Amsterdam, Hall 7, Stand H39.

The G-RACK 12 NAS solution streamlines demanding media and entertainment video workflows, including 4K and above resolution, with a scalable 12-bay server offering capacities up to 120TB1 – and now 600TB2 with the four G-RACK 12 Expansion units. Its reliability, high-performance, and centralized storage capabilities are perfect for small-to-medium-size post-production houses, TV/broadcast studios, ad agencies, and in-house creative departments using Adobe Premiere® Pro, Apple Final Cut Pro® X, Avid Media Composer®, or other creative applications. G-RACK 12 is the ideal storage solution for collaboration, utilizing four 10-gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 connections for high-speed data transfers, saving both time and money.

The G-RACK 12 solution made its U.S. debut at this year’s NAB show in Las Vegas and is now making its European presence at IBC2016. A significant value of the G-RACK 12 solution is the G-Technology-developed NAS OS that garnered NAB award-winning praise for the intuitive, simple-to-use management interface. With a commitment to continual improvement, a number of updates to this NAS OS has been released for new and existing customers. These updates include the ability to now support a total of four G-RACK Expansion units that will provide up to 500TB of usable storage capacity. This latest OS version will also showcase a new platform for third-party partner applications embedded onto the G-RACK 12 to provide additional functionality. Improved user support and enhanced RAID management capabilities are also included in the latest version of the G-RACK NAS OS.

“The G-RACK 12's wickedly fast read/write speeds make it an unparalleled NAS option for professional environments, and its intuitive OS server interface allows us to get our entire department working off the G-RACK the same morning we unboxed it, all without hiring a specialist,” said Ted Pacult, post-production supervisor for Documentary Now.

"RED Studios Hollywood is constantly looking for the latest storage innovations, such as the G-RACK 12,” said Jarred Land, president of RED Digital Cinema. “The 10-gigabit network speeds and ability to work within our Adobe, Final Cut Pro, and Avid ecosystems makes our G-RACK 12 an extremely valuable asset.”

“From our flexible Evolution Series™ and high-capacity, high-performance portable G-SPEED® Shuttle XL to our new 12-bay G-RACK 12 NAS solution, the G-Technology brand offers one of the broadest storage portfolios for virtually any content creation workflow,” said Mike Williams, vice president of G-Technology, a Western Digital brand. “Our goal is to continue to optimize efficiencies in pre- and post-production workflows, so whether you’re working on a TV commercial, a corporate video, or major motion picture, we can help you through the most demanding production environments, while delivering capacity, reliability, performance, and style.”

G-RACK 12 incorporates a G-Technology-developed NAS operating system with the BTRfs file system, the SCST high-performance iSCSI engine, and an easy-to-use graphical interface that removes the complexity of typical NAS administrative systems. The 12-bay, expandable units incorporate enterprise-class hard drives and are available in 48TB, 72TB, 96TB, and 120TB storage capacities.

G-RACK 12 pricing varies depending on capacity and configuration. The G-RACK 12 is sold through authorized resellers across North America and Europe. To find an authorized reseller or to become an authorized reseller please visit www.g-technology.com.
