Former NBCUniversal Exec Joins Premium Network to Advance Digital Footprint

NEW YORK--()--Premium entertainment network EPIX today announced that it has named Jonathan Dakss as Chief Digital Officer. Reporting directly to Rob Sussman, GM and EVP, Business Operations and Strategy and based in New York City, Mr. Dakss will be leading the digital team in continuing to build industry-leading digital products, advancing the user experience, and collaborating with distribution partners to pioneer authentication across devices and platforms. Mr. Dakss joins EPIX from NBCUniversal where he was Vice President of Media Labs.

“Jonathan’s experience developing new revenue-generating products and business solutions at digital powerhouse NBCUniversal will be a great asset to the EPIX team,” said Rob Sussman. “We’re thrilled to have him join us to advance our leadership position and direct a digital team that has been at the forefront of TV Everywhere innovation, being the first cable network to launch on Xbox, PlayStation, Roku, and Android devices, as well as our recent launch of offline viewing on Android and iOS.”

“I’m excited to be working with EPIX, which has been a leader in digital development from its inception,” said Mr. Dakss. “The opportunity to build on the innovations that EPIX has introduced as the first network to launch across a number of different platforms is exciting and I look forward to expanding our products into the next generation of digital platforms and experiences.”

At NBCU, Mr. Dakss led a cross-functional team at Media Labs, the company’s technology innovation incubation division. He also served leadership roles in Converged Media, Emerging Media Technology, and Interactive Media Product Development.

Before NBCU, Mr. Dakss started his own company, WatchPoint Media, based on technology he created at the MIT Media Lab. WatchPoint was sold to GoldPocket Interactive, where Dakss launched digital video products on Time Warner Cable, DISH, Cablevision and Comcast.
