The New Home Company (NEW HOME) (NYSE: NWHM) was honored last night with a Grand Award for “Residential Community of the Year-Master Plan” for The Cannery in Davis, Calif., at the 2016 Gold Nugget Awards presented during PCBC, the building industry’s leading conference, trade show and meeting place. Now in its 53rd year, the Gold Nugget Awards recognize the best in architectural design and planning excellence, drawing entries from throughout the United States and around the world.

NEW HOME shared the Residential Community of the Year honor with a talented group of design consultants who helped shape the vision for The Cannery, including: Jeffrey DeMure + Associates, Robert Hidey Architects, Dahlin Group, Lim Chang Rohling & Associates, JZMK Partners, Woodley Architectural Group, SWA, McErlane Associates, Meridian Interiors and Paolucci Salling & Martin Communication Arts. NEW HOME and its team also received a Grand Award for Best Community Site Plan for The Cannery

The Cannery is an innovative mixed-used community with plans for 583 residences and featuring a seven-acre Urban Farm on the site of a former tomato cannery. The community features a land plan that is the first of its scale in Davis in more than 20 years. It also includes retail shops, recreation center, outdoor amphitheaters and miles of trails. As part of the working farm, a facility called “The Barn” will serve as an agri-classroom for students and beginning farmers.

The Gold Nugget Awards were the culmination of a big week of honors for NEW HOME at PCBC. On Tuesday, Kevin Carson, the company’s Northern California President, was inducted into the California Homebuilding Foundation Hall of Fame. For more than 30 years, the Foundation’s annual Hall of Fame gala has recognized more than 200 distinguished individuals for their professional and philanthropic contributions to homebuilding and related industries.

“This was an incredible week for our company,” said NEW HOME Chief Marketing Officer Joan Marcus-Colvin. “To be recognized by our peers at the Gold Nugget Awards after congratulating our colleague Kevin Carson on entering the Hall of Fame was truly special. We could not be more proud of him, our entire team and all of our trusted partners.”
