Booth #107
Santa Clara Convention Center
June 22-23, 2016

What:

At Velocity 2016, Riverbed will demonstrate new functionality of SteelCentral AppInternals, part of the new release of Riverbed SteelCentral, which extends its comprehensive monitoring capabilities into the cloud, PaaS and applications built upon containerized micro-services.

Today’s applications are complex — they span both on-premise and cloud environments, they are delivered over diverse networks and they are consumed on a broad range of devices. Furthermore, to increase agility, IT is adopting Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), and container-based micro-services to dynamically scale applications faster. This further increases complexity.

To effectively manage application performance and deliver flawless end-user experience, IT requires both broad and deep visibility across all tiers and architectures. SteelCentral combines end-user experience, application, network and infrastructure monitoring to deliver the holistic, end-to-end view of application performance that is critical to managing today’s complexity and assuring flawless application performance.

With SteelCentral AppInternals, performance data is recorded discretely on a per-transaction basis and does not rely on statistical inference or suffer from sampling error. Its monitoring capabilities automatically scale as applications scale in the cloud. IT operations and development teams can clearly visualize application behavior in real-time to troubleshoot existing issues or to proactively improve performance.

Demonstrations:

App Performance Monitoring On & Off the Cloud

This demo will show how all the component parts of end-to-end performance can be visualized with Riverbed SteelCentral AppInternals’ detailed drill downs into application code, database performance, and server and network performance for enterprise web applications. Available on the Microsoft Azure Marketplace, and soon on the Amazon Web Services Marketplace, users can deploy SteelCentral AppInternals in minutes to seamlessly monitor applications on and off the cloud. In addition, SteelCentral AppInternals now provides clear visualizations of complex application behavior with its new Application Performance Graph. The Graph visually maps interactions between application modules in real-time, regardless of underlying infrastructure, revealing dependencies and hotspots obscured by the elasticity of the environment so that IT can observe and fix issues with the most overarching business impact.

Measure & Optimize End-User Experience

The true measure of application performance is its end-user experience. This demo will showcase how AppInternals enables IT to quickly respond to poor end-user experiences by finding root causes and exposing defective code, SQL or system resources. Riverbed SteelCentral AppInternals provides real-time insights on user response times, key business transactions and usage trends across the globe. Capturing all transactions across all users all the time, AppInternals can rapidly identify the drivers of poor user experiences. AppInternals’ second-by-second reporting exposes and diagnoses even intermittent problems, and eliminates “everything is fine” or false-positive scenarios, thereby leaving no user behind.

Presentation:

Title: Is your performance analysis approach as cutting-edge as your application architecture?

To analyze and improve the performance of modern applications, companies must abandon outdated approaches and toolsets, which are rooted to the physical topology of servers and JVMs. This session discusses a new paradigm to reveal unexpected relationships and hotspots obscured by the elasticity of containers and micro-services so that you can find and fix issues with the most overarching business impact.
