Ntrepid Recognized as Top Innovator by NATO Communications and Information Agency

Company’s Secure Web Browser, Passages, to be Showcased During the 2016 NCI Agency Conference as an Inaugural Winner of the Defense Innovation Challenge

HERNDON, Va.--()--Ntrepid Corporation, a provider of cutting-edge cyber security solutions, today announced that Passages Enterprise (Passages), its secure virtual browser that allows users to navigate and browse the Internet without fear of picking up malware, was named a winner of the inaugural Defense Innovation Challenge. Hosted by the NATO Communications and Information (NCI) Agency, the challenge is aimed at accelerating transformational, state-of-the-art technology solutions from small business and academia in support of NATO C4ISR and cyber capabilities.

Small businesses and academia from all 28 Allies were invited to submit proposals in four focus areas: cyber defense, Internet of Things, military applications of blockchains, and cognitive computing and machine learning. Passages was identified by the NCI Agency’s High-Level Selection Board as a top-ranked technology solution in the Cyber Defense category, and will be showcased at the 2016 NCI Agency Conference and AFCEA TechNet International (NITEC16), “Building Resilience through Secure C4ISR: NATO-Industry Collaboration in a New Era,” from June 7 to 9 in Tallinn, Estonia.

In addition to having Passages showcased throughout the conference along with one-on-one demonstrations, Ntrepid will be honored during an official awards ceremony. The Innovation Challenge awards ceremony will take place at the conference on June 7, 2016, and will be presented by MGEN (rtd) Koen Gijsbers, General Manager of the NCI Agency, Lt. Gen. Jeffrey “Jeff” Lofgren, Deputy Chief of Staff, Capability Development, Allied Command Transformation, and H.E. Ambassador Sorin Ducaru, Assistant Secretary General, Emerging Security Challenges, NATO HQ.

“Being invited to submit Passages as an innovative solution addressing today’s sophisticated cyber threats is a great honor, and we are thrilled to be recognized as a winner among all the very capable participants,” stated Richard Helms, CEO of Ntrepid. “Passages significantly reduces the ability of adversaries to conduct targeted social engineering attacks; all while providing the complete functionality that users expect from a traditional web browser. We look forward to demonstrating the benefits of Passages during the conference and forging a longstanding relationship with NCI to keep our allies safe from cyber harm.”

Instead of restricting what users can do and where they can go on the web, Passages isolates the browser in a secure virtual machine, allowing business and government agency users to safely surf online without the risk of infecting their machines or compromising valuable enterprise data. Passages also ensures that malware is kept away from the user’s computer by quarantining downloaded files in a private cloud and preventing all automatic or accidental downloads. Additionally, administrators have the ability to access flagged files for further analysis. Passages’ comprehensive oversight tool, Insight, captures an enterprise’s entire web activity directly from the browser, providing full audits of all user activity to provide total visibility, and ensure organizations meet HIPAA, PCI DSS, and NIST compliance standards for security and monitoring.

Passages’ unique ability to address attacks through browsers and support NATO C4ISR and cyber capabilities meets the demanding mission needs of the NCI Agency. As a result, the NCI Agency is focused on continued engagement with Ntrepid and will be promoting the benefits of Passages through its “Small Business Success Stories” listing, featuring it on the NITEC 16 Mobile App (available for download from the App Store), and inviting Ntrepid to participate in the agency’s SME Mentoring Program.
