As Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Spiro will have overall responsibility for the work of Medica’s Health Management segment. This includes working with Medica’s provider partners to develop new models of collaboration aimed at improving quality, patient experience and value. It also includes working with Health Management staff and leaders from other Medica segments to build on the work currently underway to improve the quality and cost of health care.
“Dr. Spiro has had a distinguished career as an executive working in health-plan, health-care and health services businesses, as well as in clinical practice,” said David Tilford, Medica President and Chief Executive Officer. “Dr. Spiro’s strong commitment to member experience, his demonstrated ability to develop new and better solutions for improving quality while controlling cost, and his solid business experience make him the ideal person to lead our Health Management work at this point in our history.”

He has been a visiting professor at several universities, including the Harvard School of Public Health, and a frequent speaker at health care national conferences.
Dr. Spiro holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and a Masters of Business Administration degree from the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management.
