Salas O’Brien CEO Named as Finalist for EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award

Darin Anderson attributes success to the team’s maniacal focus on quality delivery, massive environmental benefits, client operating cost reductions and employee-ownership

SANTA ANA, Calif.--()--Salas O’Brien announced today that Darin Anderson, the company’s chairman and CEO, has been named a finalist for Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year Awards in Orange County and the Inland Empire.

The awards program, which is celebrating its 30th year, recognizes entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. Anderson was selected as one of 15 finalists by a panel of independent judges.

“This is a wonderful recognition for our dedicated team and employee-owners as we have experienced over 1,200 percent growth this past decade when the industry as a whole has had zero” said Anderson. “This award is a direct testament to the maniacal focus on quality delivery that our team demonstrates daily designing and building the most complex ‘built-environment’ projects in the world.”

Anderson energetically shared, “Salas O’Brien’s core function is working on large campuses and facilities delivering critical system infrastructure that create massive positive environmental improvements in energy and utility savings as well as system reliability and performance. By using less power, supplying cleaner alternative power and efficiently delivering utilities, we are eliminating millions of pounds of carbon emissions and kWh/electricity every year for our clients and saving them millions of dollars in operating costs. ‘Designing for the good of our world’ is our core driver—and key to our success.”

With offices across the country, Salas O’Brien serves clients including, Microsoft, Ritz-Carlton, Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Bloom Energy, Starbucks, Four Seasons, numerous universities including Stanford, Cal-Tech, USC, LSU, Texas A&M, UCSF and UC Berkeley, as well as numerous hospitals, school districts, cities, counties and federal agencies.

The figure that Anderson regularly likes to share when talking about Salas O’Brien is that the firm has not lost an employee shareholder since 2006. Salas O’Brien has grown from one employee owner to now over 40 with a total team of 300.

Winners of the Ernst & Young Award will be announced at a special gala event on June 17th at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point.
