BAE Systems to Brief Media on Precision Munitions Technology at Sea-Air-Space Expo

ARLINGTON, Va.--()--BAE Systems will feature a range of innovative products and capabilities at the Navy League’s Sea-Air-Space Exposition, May 16-18, at the Gaylord National Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland. The company will host the following media briefings, highlighting precision guided munitions technology that is currently in use or in development. The U.S. Navy will join BAE Systems for one of the briefings.

Precision Lethality for the Littoral Combat Ship’s 57mm Gun
Location: BAE Systems Booth (#2439)

Learn about BAE Systems’ internally funded, developed, and tested precision guided munition for its 57mm Mk 110 Naval Gun System, the Navy’s strategic weapon of choice for the Littoral Combat Ship and Fast Frigate program. Designed to defeat the proliferation of swarm attacks from small boats and UAVs, the new round, called ORKA, is the most advanced and effective precision guidance technology currently in development for a medium caliber gun system.

Hear the latest news regarding the Navy's Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS) program. The briefing will include program updates regarding platforms from which the system has been fired, as well as the rocket’s in-theater success. APKWS is the U.S. Department of Defense's only fully qualified, guided 2.75-inch rocket that uses semi-active laser guidance technology to strike soft- and light-armored targets.

Naval Ship Repair, Maintenance, and Modernization
BAE Systems is a leading provider of ship repair, maintenance, modernization, conversion, and overhaul for the Navy and other customers. Archerfish Mine Neutralizer System
BAE Systems was recently awarded a Department of Defense contract to manufacture and deliver Archerfish mine neutralizers, continuing the company’s support to the Navy’s minesweeping operation. Archerfish is a remotely-controlled underwater vehicle equipped with an explosive warhead to destroy sea mines. Capable of overcoming the threat of modern mines, it has formed a key part of the Navy’s Airborne Mine Neutralization System program since 2007.

Advanced Component Obsolescence Management
BAE Systems is one of the original obsolescence management providers in the industry and continues to serve military and commercial organizations. Striker® II Digital Helmet-Mounted Display
BAE Systems’ Striker II fully digital helmet-mounted display (HMD) system offers night vision cameras integrated into the helmet’s visor. Platform agnostic, Striker II builds upon the company’s current Striker HMD, which has been successfully deployed in theatre on the Eurofighter Typhoon and Gripen fleets. Striker II provides today’s combat pilot with exceptional night vision and target tracking technology within a fully integrated visor-projected HMD system.
