SAN ANTONIO--()--Prepare for sensory overload as three new mind-bending rides anchor an exciting new Fiesta Bay Boardwalk at the Thrill Capital of South Texas, Six Flags Fiesta Texas. Guests will find themselves looping, spinning, and soaring as they experience the new high-adrenaline thrills on Fireball, featuring a massive 7-story looping frenzy; Hurricane Force 5, where riders take on the power of a storm and swirl round-and-round while soaring high into the air; and Spinsanity, the ultimate whirling adventure for daredevil riders.

Headlining the roster of thrills is a Texas-original, Fireball. This giant looping sensation features:

  • A “face-off” with 24 riders seated face-to-face to begin their journey;
  • The thrill of being rocketed both forward and backward, through 360 degree revolutions;
  • Being suspended upside down 72 feet in the air; and
  • The feeling of weightlessness throughout the hair-raising experience.

During the special Fireball Grand Opening ceremony today, San Antonio Firefighters from Fire Stations #34 and #51 were invited to be the first official riders, amid festive daytime pyrotechnics and musical fanfare. As another warm South Texas summer approaches, the local fire department provided several reminders and tips to keep everyone cool all summer long.

  • Keep hydrated! Drink water every half hour, even if you don’t feel thirsty. Limit caffeine, alcohol and sugary drinks;
  • Wear light colored, loose fitting clothing;
  • NEVER leave a child unattended in a vehicle, even if for a short period of time;
  • Know the symptoms of heat related injury which may include headache, dizziness, nausea, or pale skin; and
  • If you recognize any of these symptoms in someone immediately move them to a cooler environment. Spray or sponge cool water onto their skin. If attempts to relieve symptoms fail, please seek immediate medical attention.

Another distinct offering in the park’s new trio of thrills – Hurricane Force 5 rotates both clockwise and counter-clockwise with guests sitting on motorcycle-like seats facing outward. This enormous 24-passenger hurricane-shaped disc arcs from side to side on an almost 5-story high half-pipe track while rotating at 14 revolutions per minute. The innovative attraction is a first-of-its-kind in the state.

A third new attraction, Spinsanity, sends riders spinning, twisting and rolling through a cycle of classic, thrilling fun. This modern adaptation of a traditional Tilt-A-Whirl provides more panoramic, unobstructed views and is being unveiled the same year as the 90th Anniversary of the original boardwalk favorite.

In addition to these three new thrill rides, the entire Boardwalk area now offers special guest amenities, including new, more colorful facades on all of the Boardwalk offerings; new food and games locations, including a signature Jelly Belly store; and refreshed wooden decking throughout!
