The award-winning website’s easy-to-use format provides visitors direct access to current news articles and featured material, as well as useful local, state and federal government information and convenient online services.
The redesign of the state’s official website focuses on user experience with increased search optimization, as well as highlighting high traffic avenues on the homepage, while still providing a visually appealing and professional appearance. Along with the main services highlighted on the landing page, users have quick access to live chat support, a self-guided tour and a variety of instant search and live filtering options to increase ease of navigation. In addition, the mobile-friendly Alabama.gov site will conform to the size of the user’s screen, creating the best user experience possible on any device.
Other new enhancements to the Alabama.gov site include the Alabama Social Media section and the News Room, both readily accessible from the main landing page. Social media is the fastest form of communication to reach the general public and is harnessed by a multitude of agencies, departments and state officials. With this in mind, visitors can check out the latest posts from government-affiliated social media accounts across the state in a single view. The News Room is a comprehensive collection of news articles, cataloged by state-wide agencies. All News Room articles are labeled with approximate reading times to increase user engagement and allow for focused reading.
The Alabama.gov website was redesigned at no cost to taxpayers through Alabama Interactive’s partnership with the state. The partnership allows the company to provide digital government applications and services to state agencies, boards, commissions, political subdivisions, local government agencies and quasi-government agencies within the state of Alabama.
